Large Haul of Narcotic Drugs Seized in Thazi and Kengtung Townships

The Myanmar Police Force has seized narcotic drugs valued at over K3.36 million in separate operations in Thazi and Kengtung townships.
The first incident occurred at 10:00 p.m. on 14 March, when a joint anti-narcotics team stopped a SCANIA passenger vehicle travelling from Taunggyi to Yangon near Kywetat son Village in Thazi Township. A passenger, identified as Pyo Min Zaw, 25, from Ward No. 134 in Dagon Myothit (East) Township, Yangon Region was arrested in possession of 1.87 kilograms of ketamine, with an estimated local value of K56.1.
In a separate operation at 7:00 p.m. on 15 March, a joint team stopped and searched a HONDA WAVE i 110 motorcycle near Pan Kyu Village in Kengtung Township, Shan State. The rider, identified as Kyapha from Mong Kha Village, Mang Pan (Middle) Village Tract in Kengtung Township, Shan State was apprehended with 4,000 ecstasy tablets, estimated at a local value of K2.8 million.
The suspects have been charged under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law.—MNA
