Sittway unveils new archway marking Armed Forces Day

A new city archway Sittway was
opened on 25 March, according to a source close to the Rakhine State
government.
The opening of the new city
entrance was made as a celebration of the 81st Armed Forces Day, which falls on
27 March 2026.
The opening ceremony was attended
by State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, the State Hluttaw Speaker Dr San Shwe,
Commander of the Western Command Maj-Gen Kyaw Swa Oo, State cabinet members,
State Hluttaw representatives and departmental officials.
“The new city archway of Sittway
was opened on 25 March by three ministers, three state Hluttaw representatives,
State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, State Hluttaw Speaker Dr San Shwe and
Commander Maj-Gen Kyaw Swa Oo. The entrance says “Welcome to Sittway and Meet
again” in Rakhine language, and it was created by the State Advocate General,”
said the source on 27 March.
The old city entrance was damaged
in the powerful Cyclone Mocha in May 2023. The construction of the new city
