Myanmar U17 to compete in AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026
MYANMAR U17 men’s team will compete in the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia from 5 to 23 May.
The team will enter the tournament shortly after competing in the 2026 ASEAN U17 Championship in Indonesia, where they were eliminated at the group stage. Following the event, the squad will continue preparations before returning to Yangon on 25 April to finalise their lineup ahead of departure.
Myanmar have been drawn in Group A alongside host Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan and Thailand.
In the ASEAN tournament, Myanmar defeated Thailand, drew with Laos and lost to the Philippines, resulting in a group-stage exit. However, Thailand’s squad for the Asian Cup is expected to differ, with preparations under a German coach. — Shine Htet Zaw/KZL
