Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion kicks of

THE opening ceremony of the Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion for the Traditional Myanmar New Year Maha Thingyan Festival, marking the transition from Myanmar Era 1387 to 1388, was held yesterday morning in front of the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee City Hall.

The ceremony was attended by Union ministers and their wives, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman and his wife, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, deputy ministers and their wives, departmental officials, representatives from ministries and organizations, Thingyan dance troupes from districts and townships, well-known artistes and singers, invitees, and members of the public who cherish the Thingyan festival.

The Tekkatho Arman of the Department of Fine Arts read out 1387 ME Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Yatu, and Mayor U Kan Myint Than delivered a New Year speech.

Union ministers and the mayor cut the ceremonial ribbon to inaugurate the Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion, and the dance troupes performed, and the Union ministers and party the sprinkled guests with sprigs of Eugenia.

At the Nay Pyi Taw Mayor’s Maha Thingyan Pavilion, renowned Myanmar artistes, performers from Belarus, representatives from ministries and organizations, and Thingyan dance troupes from districts and townships presented lively performances in collaboration with the modern band of MRTV.

These performances will continue grandly and festively from the Akyo day through to the Atet day of 16 April of the Thingyan festival. — MNA/ KTZH
