Ngape Township Completes Planting of 779 Acres of Summer Paddy

Ngape, April 23

Ngape Township in Magway Region has completed the planting of 779 acres of summer paddy during the 2026 growing season, using water supplied from Mannchaung Dam to help boost local rice production.

Water distribution to farmlands began in early February, covering village tracts under the Letwe Myaungmagyi (1,071 acres) and Letya Myaungmagyi (200 acres) irrigation systems, with a total of 1,271 acres targeted for cultivation. Of this, 779 acres have been successfully planted with paddy varieties including Aung Naing Toe (101 acres), Manaw Thu Kha (193 acres), Yadanar Toe (69 acres), and Sin Thu Kha (416 acres).

The Township Agriculture Department, through the Summer Crops Agriculture Implementation Committee, is working to strengthen food security and improve agricultural productivity. Officials and field staff are providing guidance to farmers on the use of quality seeds, proper soil management, regular irrigation, weed control, and balanced fertilizer application to ensure healthy crop growth.—Ma Yu (Ngape)
