Equip youth with both knowledge and skills

YOUTH are valuable assets who are essential to both the present era and the future history of the nation. They are also an important human resource for national develop­ment. It is urged that all young people recognize that the strength of the younger generation is the most vital force for ensuring the long-term stability and modern development of the country.

To sustain oneself as a human being, the best companion is education. Only education can shape the intellect that enables one to distinguish between right and wrong and make sound decisions. Education should be understood as consisting of both knowledge and skills. In or­der to acquire knowledge and skills, formal schooling is the fundamental basis. Through progression in education lev­els, it can be observed that a person’s intelligence and standard of living also im­prove and change over time.

Today, it can be observed that countries rich in edu­cated people stand at the forefront of the world. To achieve such leadership, through the guidance of ed­ucation, human efforts and innovations have been con­tinuously carried out, leading to progressive, step-by-step development. As a result, liv­ing standards have also risen and continue to remain at a high level.

The Government is promoting and supporting young people to become well-rounded individuals en­dowed with the five strengths in all sectors. Among the five strengths – physical strength, intellectual strength, moral strength, social strength, and economic strength – it can be observed that moral strength serves as the guiding prin­ciple. To become a capable person, knowledge and skills are necessary, and to become a good person, a strong moral foundation is also required. Young people build a strong moral foundation from an early age while they are still young.

If young people can firmly establish a strong moral foun­dation, they will shine in the future of the nation as a new generation that is not only “well-educated and kind-hearted”, but also “equally capable and in step with the times”. As true new-generation citizens filled with patriotism and love for the country, they are encouraged to begin striving so that they can eventually take over and shoulder the responsibilities of the nation in the future.

The heart and mind of an educated person are capable of correctly perceiving, distinguishing, and making sound judge­ments in all matters. Therefore, young people are urged to embrace education as their lifelong companion and strive to become future leaders who are able to uphold, protect, and safeguard the nation.
