Heavy rains across China kill more than 20

Chinese media report that at least 20 people have been killed across the country due to heavy rains, mainly in inland regions.

Torrential rains since last week have triggered floods and landslides across southern and central China.

In the province of Guizhou, a river running through an urban area overflowed. Video taken on Tuesday shows a car being swept away in muddy waters.

In neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a truck fell into a river. Ten of the passengers were reportedly confirmed dead.

Damage has also been reported in the provinces of Hubei and Hunan.

Intermittent downpours are forecast for inland and southern China through Thursday. Authorities are urging people to stay on alert.
