Myanmar draw Thailand in AFC U17 group play

MYANMAR and Thailand played out a 2-2 draw in their final Group A match of the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia on 12 May.

Although both teams had already been eliminated after their second group matches, they pushed for a win for pride. Myanmar looked set for victory after taking a two-goal lead, but Thailand fought back to secure a draw.

Myanmar striker Sai Myat Min scored twice in 19 minutes and 22 minutes to give his side a 2-0 advantage. Thailand pulled one back through Suthiprapa in 30 minutes before Gabrat equal­ized in 75 minutes.

In the other Group A match, hosts Saudi Arabia and Tajik­istan drew 5-5. Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan advanced to the quar­terfinals with seven points each, while Thailand and Myanmar exited the tournament with one point apiece. — Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
