Pyu Township Begins Harvesting Summer Paddy

Pyu Township in Bago Region has successfully completed the cultivation of 17,389 acres of summer paddy for the 2026 season, and harvesting began in the first week of May, according to officials from the Township Agriculture Supervision Committee.

In Pyu Township, water for summer paddy cultivation is sourced from dams, ponds, creeks, and lakes. Farmers use various cultivation methods, including drum seeder planting, seedling transplantation, hand-pulled rice seeder planting, and frame planting.

The main paddy varieties cultivated in the township are Sinthukha, Day-90, Hnankauk, Yadanartoe, Vietnam, Yezin Pawsan-2, and Aung Naingtoe.— Nay Myo Lwin (IPRD)
