Summer Sesame Plantations Thrive in Seikphyu Township
Seikphyu, May 5
A total of 195 acres of summer sesame, an important oilseed crop, have been successfully cultivated in Seikphyu Township, Magway Region, and the plantations are now thriving.
Local farmers in the township grow summer sesame using underground irrigation systems after harvesting their winter crops. The Township Agriculture Department has supported farmers by providing suitable seed varieties and sharing effective irrigation techniques to ensure successful cultivation.
Among the varieties grown are Samung and 2/14 black sesame, which are well-suited to local conditions and have shown promising results.—Ko Zwe (Anya Myay)
