Taungpula Hill slates third instalment of durian charity feast
23 MAY 2026
THE durian charity feast will be celebrated
on 24 May at Taungpula Hill near Peik Chin Myaung Cave in Mandalay Region’s
PyinOoLwin Township.
It is the third time that the
durian free feast has been held, and this time, about 4,500 durians will be
served from 7 am to noon on 24 May. “This is the third time that we have
donated durians at the Taungpula. We will distribute tokens to all pilgrims along
the road to the Taungpula, and they can eat durians when they reach the hill by
showing their token,” said Taungpula Sayadaw on his social media page.
Daily free meals are available
for all visitors at the hill, with overnight accommodation arranged for
pilgrims arriving on 23 May.
Any products are allowed to be
sold at the third durian donation.
Taungpula Hill is a wellknown
tourist attraction in PyinOoLwin, and it receives pilgrims from all regions and
states. The number of visitors arriving is usually larger on weekends and
significant religious days. Satuditha (food charity) meals are served from
morning to evening for pilgrims at the Taungpula, which gives a beautiful
scenery of natural landscapes and the sea of clouds. — MT/ZS
