THE Myanmar Climate-Smart Rice & Carbon Initiative Workshop took place at the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Lanmadaw Township on 9 May.
The workshop aimed to promote practical implementation of carbon markets and opportunities in Myanmar. Green & Blue VCM Carbon Initiative led the event in cooperation with eight representatives who attended the training at the Mekong Institute.
Participants shared knowledge on carbon markets, carbon credits, market opportunities, future prospects and potential carbon opportunities in the rice sector.
According to the carbon credit market, global carbon markets could reach US$1 trillion by 2040, while Myanmar has the fourth-highest nature-based carbon reduction potential in ASEAN, with an estimated potential of up to 94 megatonnes. — ASH/KZL
