Union Defence Minister visits Belarus for military cooperation talks




A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Defence General Tun Aung visited Be­larus from 25 to 30 May at the invitation of Belarusian Defence Minister Lt-Gen Viktar Ganed­iavich Khrenin to discuss mili­tary cooperation between the two countries.


During the visit, the Myan­mar delegation was welcomed with a guard of honour at the Central House of Officers of the Armed Forces of Belarus. The defence ministers of Myanmar and Belarus held talks on bilat­eral defence cooperation mat­ters. The two ministers later vis­ited the Victory Square Obelisk Monument to lay wreaths and pay tribute. In the evening, the Myanmar delegation attended an official dinner hosted by the Belarusian defence minister.


The delegation also toured military technology factories, workshops and textile indus­tries in Belarus. In addition, they met with a delegation led by Mr Dmitry Pantus, chairman of the Belarus State Authority for Military Industry, to discuss cooperation between the two countries.


The Myanmar delegation visited the Embassy of Myan­mar in Minsk and met embassy staff, family members and train­ees during the trip.—MNA/KZL
