Waw Township Earmarks 1,953 Acres for Rain-fed Paddy Cultivation



Waw, May 21

A total of 1,953 acres of rain-fed paddy have been earmarked for cultivation during the upcoming rainy season in Waw Township, Bago Region. In order to achieve the target, a coordination meeting was held at the General Administration Department Office at 10 am on May 20.

At the meeting, U Thet Lwin, Chairman of the Township Management and Administration Committee, delivered the opening address.

Following this, U Myat Tun, Deputy Staff Officer from the Township Department of Agriculture, explained that regionally suitable rain-fed rice varieties such as Taung Pyan Paw San, Ye Sin Paw San-1, and Ye Sin Paw San-2 should be cultivated as the main varieties in Waw Township. He also noted that the Department of Agriculture would provide technical assistance to farmers in transitioning from traditional dry sowing methods to the Drum Seeder planting system in order to help meet the cultivation target.
