Bear attacks in Fukushima City leave 4 people injured
Attacks
by a bear have left four people injured in a business and residential district
in northeastern Japan's Fukushima City.
Police
were informed on Tuesday morning about the incidents. The assaults occurred in
the Sasakino district. Authorities say a wild bear attacked people on the
premises of a company and in a nearby residential area.
The
local fire department says that the four injured people were conscious and
taken to hospital.
The
attacks took place near Sasakino Station on the JR Ou Main Line. Police say
there have been bear sightings in the neighborhood since last week.
Police
officers are on alert as the animal has not been captured. They are urging
residents to avoid the areas where the attacks occurred.
