Indonesia proposes 10,000 tons of rice export to Singapore
Indonesia
has offered to export at least 10,000 tons of premium rice to Singapore,
Indonesian Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said on Monday.
The
proposal was made during a bilateral meeting with Singaporean Minister for
Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu in Jakarta.
Amran
said that the export opportunity is driven by Indonesia's current high national
rice production. The government's rice reserve stock has reached about 5.1 million
tons.
Amran
also said Indonesia has been exploring options to increase exports of other
strategic food commodities to Singapore, including chicken, eggs, palm oil, and
coconuts.
