Pwintbyu Township Completes Planting of 6,191 Acres of Green Gram
Pwintbyu, June 1
Farmers in Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, have planted 6,191 acres of green gram during the current rainy season, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
The township has set a target of 6,771 acres for this year’s rainy-season crop. Planting began in May and has already reached over 91 percent of the planned acreage.
To support higher yields and better-quality production, agriculture officials are providing field supervision and technical guidance. Farmers are being encouraged to use suitable high-yield varieties, follow recommended cultivation practices, and take preventive measures against pests and diseases.
Township Agriculture staff officer Daw Moe Moe Wai said that successful green gram cultivation can meet local demand, generate income from surplus production, increase farmers’ earnings, and contribute to regional socio-economic development. She added that efforts should continue to expand green gram cultivation across suitable areas.— Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
