121-Year-Old Man, Taninthayi Woman Named Myanmar’s Oldest Living Citizens
A 121-year-old man from Htantabin
Township, Yangon Region, and a 121-year-old woman from Kawthoung Township,
Taninthayi Region, have been officially identified as Myanmar’s oldest living
male and female citizens, according to records from the Ministry of Immigration
and Population.
Official records confirm that U Than
Aung, a resident of Tatywa village in Tetthit village-tract, Htantabin
Township, holds the distinction of being the nation’s oldest living man. Daw
Pan Nwe, who lives on Paletwin Street in Shwezinyaw Ward, Kawthoung Township,
has been recognized as the country’s oldest living woman.
To honour U Than Aung, Yangon Region
Chief Minister and regional government officials visited his home to pay their
respects. They presented him with cash donations totalling K12.1 million,
symbolizing his 121 years of age, as well as nutritional supplements and
ceremonial gifts.
In a similar gesture, Bago Region Chief
Minister U Myo Swe Win visited Daw Phata Mar, a 118-year-old resident of Ward 5
in Myohla Town, Yedashe Township, Toungoo District, and paid his respects to
