30 information staff join News and News Article Writing Training

THE News and News Article Writing Train­ing Course was opened yesterday morning at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw with the objectives of enhanc­ing public awareness of government policies and activities, sharing experiences in news and news article writing developing the ability to assess news values, pro­viding practical training in modern digital news presentation technolo­gies, promoting discus­sions in line with media ethics, strengthening the role of media in serving the community, and en­hancing cooperation with international media or­ganizations.

Ambassador of India to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur said the course would provide new in­sights for media profes­sionals as it covers news and news article writing, fact-checking and anal­ysis of rebuttal-related news, media monitoring, digital communications, and crisis communica­tions.

Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint said trainees would gain the necessary knowledge, experience and skills in news writ­ing, learn international journalistic ethics, ena­bling them to provide the public with accurate and reliable information. He expressed hope that the training would contrib­ute to the development of media activities under the Ministry of Informa­tion, and said coopera­tion in the media sector would further strengthen the friendship between Myanmar and India.

The course is joint­ly organized by the Media Development Department under the Ministry of Information and India’s Ministry of External Affairs under the India Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme. The training will run from 31 August to 11 September, with 30 trainees from the Ministry of Information. Two media experts from India will serve as in­structors for the course. — MNA/KTZH
