6,100+ Century-Old Heritage Buildings Preserved Nationwide




A total of 6,105 buildings more than 100 years old are now under con­servation as heritage buildings nationwide, including 153 in Yangon Region, according to the Department of Archaeolo­gy and National Museum (Yangon Branch) under the Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture.


As of 2020, there were a total of 5,708 heritage buildings aged more than 100 years across the coun­try.


The department also stated that ceremonies to install bronze plaques designating heritage buildings were held on 28 July at Kanbawza Yeiktha (Chin Tsong Palace) and the Bogyoke Aung San Museum in Yangon Re­gion. — ASH/KNN
