Colin Bell appointed Myanmar women’s national football team head coach
THE Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) has appointed English coach Colin Bell as head coach of the Myanmar women’s national team on a three-year contract. The agreement was signed at the MFF head office on 13 August.
MFF General Secretary U Tun Tun Aung outlined the reasons for Bell’s appointment and the team’s future objectives before the contract was signed.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bell said he believed Myanmar had the potential to achieve success at the Asian level and expressed his ambition to guide the team to its first FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification.
Born in Leicester, England, Bell holds a UEFA Pro Licence and has previously coached the women’s national teams of South Korea, the Republic of Ireland and China’s U20 side. His achievements include winning the UEFA Women’s Champions League with German club 1. FFC Frankfurt in 2015 and leading South Korea to the final of the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup and qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Under Bell’s leadership, Myanmar will seek to strengthen its position in Asian football and pursue a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. — TWA/KZL
