Colin Bell appointed Myanmar women’s national football team head coach




THE Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) has appointed English coach Colin Bell as head coach of the Myanmar women’s na­tional team on a three-year contract. The agreement was signed at the MFF head office on 13 August.


MFF General Sec­retary U Tun Tun Aung outlined the reasons for Bell’s appointment and the team’s future objec­tives before the contract was signed.


Speaking at the cere­mony, Bell said he believed Myanmar had the potential to achieve success at the Asian level and expressed his ambition to guide the team to its first FIFA Wom­en’s World Cup qualifica­tion.


Born in Leicester, England, Bell holds a UEFA Pro Licence and has previously coached the women’s national teams of South Korea, the Republic of Ireland and China’s U20 side. His achievements in­clude winning the UEFA Women’s Champions League with German club 1. FFC Frankfurt in 2015 and leading South Korea to the final of the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup and qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.


Under Bell’s leader­ship, Myanmar will seek to strengthen its position in Asian football and pursue a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. — TWA/KZL
