Embassy advises Myanmar citizens in Indonesia to avoid crowded areas




THE Myanmar Embas­sy in Jakarta issued an advisory on 27 August, encouraging Myanmar citizens in Jakarta, In­donesia, to strictly avoid travelling to busy areas, public gatherings, and crowded locations due to the recent situation un­folding in the city.


The notice specifi­cally advises Myanmar citizens residing in In­donesia to refrain from visiting crowded places such as schools, univer­sity campuses, markets, shopping centres, train stations, and prominent landmarks. Additionally, the embassy urges stu­dents to avoid visiting areas where crowds are gathering during this time.


The advisory also re­quests citizens to contact and inform the Myanmar Embassy promptly in the event of an emergency or unavoidable situation.


On 27 August, thou­sands of people gathered to protest in front of the parliament building in Ja­karta, demanding stricter measures against corrup­tion and the passage of a bill allowing the seizure of assets obtained through corruption. — MT/ZN
