Erosion prevention and water inflow blockage works continue following Ngawun embankment subsidence




VENERABLE Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Paññjota of Theaphyu Chaung­phya and Maha Myaing Tawya Monastery and Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw ob­served ongoing efforts to prevent erosion and block water inflows along the subsided section of the Ngawun embankment in Laymyethna Town­ship and encouraged the personnel involved in the work yesterday morning.


During the visit, the Venerable Sayadaw made cash donations and recit­ed Paritta Suttas to en­courage Tatmadaw per­sonnel, firefighters and local volunteers engaged in efforts to block the wa­ter inflow.


The Venerable Sayad­aw and the chief minister subsequently proceeded to the monastery in La­harpa Village, Hinthada Township, where the Sayadaw recited Paritta Suttas and distributed re­lief supplies to local mon­asteries, nunneries and flood-affected residents of Laymyethna Township.


In Hinthada, the chief minister also accepted a relief donation of K100 million for flood-affected areas, presented collec­tively by the Chairman of the M League, Shan Unit­ed FC, Ayeyawady Unit­ed Women’s FC, Yangon United FC, Yadanabon FC, former and current Myanmar national team players and M League officials. The chief minis­ter presented certificates of honour in return to express appreciation for their contributions. — Re­gional IPRD/TH
