Flood relief efforts underway in Kyonpyaw District



SEARCH, rescue and rehabilitation efforts are underway for flood-affect­ed residents in Kyonpyaw District, Ayeyawady Re­gion, following flooding caused by a breach in an embankment in Laymy­ethna Township.


Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw met district officials to re­view the flooding situation, evacuation centres, crop damage, relief supplies and transport routes. He visited flood shelters in Kyonpyaw and Yekyi townships, where he en­couraged residents and provided rice, cooking oil, drinking water and other food supplies. He inspect­ed flooded bridges and roads, rice stockpiles and a water purification ma­chine installed to provide clean water to flood-affect­ed residents, according to the report. — IPRD/KZL
