Kayin State clinches overall Lethwei title

KAYIN State won the over­all championship trophy at the 2026 Inter-State and Region Traditional Leth­wei Championships, held at Theinbyu Lethwei Gym­nasium in Mingala Taung­nyunt Township, Yangon Region, yesterday.

The finals featured men’s novice and Grade C bouts in the 51, 54, 57, 60, 63.5 and 67-kilogramme cat­egories, as well as women’s bouts in the 48, 51, 54 and 57-kilogramme categories.

Kayin State won the women’s overall trophy with two gold and one silver medal, while Bago Region claimed the men’s novice trophy with two gold and three silver medals.

Kayin State also se­cured the men’s Grade C trophy with three gold, two silver and one bronze med­al. With a combined haul of six gold, six silver and three bronze medals, Kayin State claimed the overall champi­onship trophy. — Bala/KZL
