MRCS provides K62.55M+ as second batch to 139 quake victims in Sagaing
THE Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) announced
on 12 August that it has provided over K62.55 million in second-batch financial
assistance to 139 earthquake-affected households in Sagaing.
The assistance was provided at Minlan
Ward, Sagaing Township, on 10 August. In this second batch, K450,000 per household,
totalling K62.55 million, were supported. Each household previously received
an initial batch of K1.05 million, bringing the cumulative livelihood support
to K1.5 million per household.
MRCS Executive Committee Member
Professor Dr Tin Maung Hlaing, accompanied by Deputy Secretary-General Daw Aye
Aye Nyein and other officials, observed the cash distribution in Minlan Ward. During
the visit, officials inspected the cash distribution process and monitored how
beneficiaries were utilizing the funds to resume their livelihood activities.
This assistance was made possible
through the support of the German Red Cross. MRCS staff and local volunteers
delivered assistance directly to beneficiaries. — MT/ZN
