Myanmar deports 5 undocumented foreign entrants

MYANMAR deported three Indians and two Malaysians, totalling five individuals, involved in telecom fraud and oth­er criminal activities in Kayin State via the Myan­mar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II yesterday.

Myanmar authorities officially handed the de­portees the necessary le­gal documents to ensure their smooth repatriation.

Between 30 January 2025 and 25 August 2026, a total of 14,764 illegal im­migrants were identified and detained in Myanmar. Of this number, 13,825 in­dividuals have already been deported through Thailand to their respec­tive countries. Among the remaining 939 individuals to be deported, there are 724 who were charged under the Myanmar Im­migration (Emergency) Provisions Act section 3 (1)/13(1) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and 215 individuals are current­ly under detention while awaiting repatriation.

The government is strictly cracking down on online scams and online gambling by cooperat­ing with other countries, including neighbouring countries. — MNA/KTZH
