Myanmar shines at King’s Cup Sepak Takraw Championship with gold, 3 silvers
MYANMAR’S national Sepak Takraw team
won one gold and three silver medals at the 39th King’s Cup ISTAF World Sepak
Takraw Championship, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 4 to 11 August.
A 29-member Myanmar delegation,
comprising team officials, coaches and 24 athletes, competed in the
championship against teams from Southeast Asia and other Asian countries.
Myanmar won gold in the men’s
four-player team event and silver medals in the men’s hoop-kick event, women’s
two-player team event and women’s hoop-kick event.
The Myanmar team returned to Yangon
International Airport yesterday morning, where they received a warm welcome
from officials of the Department of Sports and Physical Education and the Myanmar
Sepak Takraw Federation, students from the Institute of Sports and Physical
Education (Yangon), and the athletes’ families and friends. — Bala/KZL
