Myanmar shines at King’s Cup Sepak Takraw Championship with gold, 3 silvers

MYANMAR’S nation­al Sepak Takraw team won one gold and three silver medals at the 39th King’s Cup ISTAF World Sepak Takraw Championship, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 4 to 11 August.

 

A 29-member Myanmar delegation, comprising team offi­cials, coaches and 24 athletes, competed in the championship against teams from Southeast Asia and other Asian countries.

 

Myanmar won gold in the men’s four-player team event and silver med­als in the men’s hoop-kick event, women’s two-player team event and women’s hoop-kick event.

 

The Myanmar team returned to Yangon Internation­al Airport yesterday morning, where they received a warm wel­come from officials of the Department of Sports and Physical Education and the My­anmar Sepak Takraw Federation, students from the Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Yangon), and the athletes’ fam­ilies and friends. — Bala/KZL
