Preserving Traditional Arts, Cultural Heritage a National Responsibility




 


Vice-President Nan Ni Ni Aye called for concert­ed efforts to successfully stage the 27th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Per­forming Arts Competition, stressing the importance of preserving Myanmar’s traditional cultural her­itage, passing it on to younger generations and promoting national cul­ture.


She made the re­marks while addressing the first coordination meeting of the Leading Committee on the 27th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competition, at the Minis­try of Hotels, Tourism and Culture in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.


Nan Ni Ni Aye, Patron of the Leading Committee, said Myanmar’s tradition­al singing, dancing, com­posing songs and playing music are valuable forms of intangible cultural her­itage that reflect the spir­it, thoughts, culture and way of life of the Myanmar people.

She said that as tech­nological development and global cultural exchanges continue to accelerate, greater efforts are needed not only to preserve Myan­mar’s original cultural her­itage but also to encourage younger generations to take an interest in tradi­tional arts and pass them on to future generations.


In this regard, she stated the competition aims to identify new gen­erations of artistes, pro­mote the preservation and development of traditional arts, foster appreciation of national culture and strengthen national capa­bility.


She called for the 27th competition to be organ­ized systematically and to a high standard, building on the positive experiences of previous competitions. She emphasized the need to establish clear and pre­cise competition rules, ensure fair, transparent and professional judging, and accurately assess the abilities of contestants.

The Vice-President also urged all those con­cerned to cooperate in making the competition a success that reflects na­tional unity, cultural digni­ty and Myanmar’s artistic traditions.


At the meeting, Union Minister for Hotels, Tour­ism and Culture U Maung Myint, Chairman of the Leading Committee, re­ported on arrangements for holding the competi­tion and the presentation of awards, while Deputy Minister U Aye Tun, Secre­tary of the committee, re­ported on progress of tasks for organizing the event.


Officials and members of the committee also pre­sented the preparations undertaken in their respec­tive sectors and the work plans to be implemented to ensure the successful organization of the compe­tition. — MNA/TTA
