Pwintbyu Township targets to cultivate 15,479 acres of sesame this winter season
Pwintbyu 25 August
Pwintbyu Township estimates to cultivate a total of 15,479 acres of sesame this upcoming winter season, according to the Township Department of Agriculture. To meet the target, the winter sesame cultivation is set to begin in October.
Officials from the township department support farmers in the cultivation of sesame and other oilseed crops to achieve the cultivation targets and high yields. Assistance includes guidance on preventing pest and disease outbreaks, selecting the high-quality seeds and utilizing good agricultural practices.
Achieving the targeted high yield will not only ensure local oil consumption but also generate additional income through surplus sales. Hence, efforts should be made to expand sesame cultivation wherever possible, according to a township departmental official.
