School uniforms, sportswear provided to Women’s Football Academy (Mandalay)
THE Women’s Football Academy (Mandalay), the first women’s football academy established in Myanmar, provided school uniforms and sportswear to 51 female student-athletes at a ceremony held at the academy on 16 August.
Union Minister for Women's Affairs Dr Thet Thet Zin presented the uniforms to 51 students receiving education and football training at the academy.
During the meeting with athletes, the Union minister said that as the Academy is teaching both academic and sports, it is necessary to strive to become outstanding in education and sports, adding her belief in emerging outstanding women football players.
The academy was established with the support of FIFA and the guidance of MFF in Chanmyathazi township of Mandalay Region. The Women’s Football Academy currently provides education for 51 students from Grade 5 to Grade 9. Based on age groups, 25 players are enrolled in the U12/U13 category and 26 players in the U14/U15 category, making a total of 51 players. — TWA/KTZH
