Thegon, August 25

Under the slogan “Let’s Encourage Production for the Golden Harvest of the Nation,” Thegon Township in Bago Region planned to cultivate 82,610 acres of rain-fed paddy in fiscal year 2026 to ensure local food security and promote the rice farming sector. As of August 25, 100 percent of the target acreage had been planted.

Local farmers cultivated the paddy under the supervision of the Township Agriculture and Livestock Supervision Committee, using drum seeders, rice transplanters and manually operated rice planters.

The planted varieties included YSR-1, YAR-14, Thai rice, Hmawbi-2, Day-90, Yadanar Toe, Innma Yebow and Vietnam rice.—Ko Kyaw (Thegon)
