YR hosts Emerald Green project orientation, committee formation ceremony
THE Department of Rural Development,
under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, conducted an
orientation session on the Mya Sein Yaung Project and formed the Village
Project Committee at the monastery in Nyaungbintha Village, Kawhmu Township,
on 5 August.
Township Department Head U Tin Ko Latt
explained the objectives and benefits of the Emerald Green Project. He
emphasized the importance of safeguarding the project revolving fund,
maintaining accurate financial records, and systematically managing the project
through a village-level committee. He also encouraged villagers to elect
committee members who are honest, impartial, and committed to serving the
community.
Project officials then explained the
rules and regulations for committee formation, the roles and responsibilities
of committee members, the duties of villagers, and the procedures to be carried
out under the project.
After the discussion, village elders and
local communities elected a seven-member Village Project Committee by consensus
to oversee the implementation of the Emerald Green project and support
community development activities.
Under the 2026-2027 financial year,
Nyaungbintha Village will receive a revolving fund of K30 million through the
Emerald Green project. The fund will be provided as low-interest loans to
support small-scale income-generating activities, according to the Kawhmu
Township Department of Rural Development. — Ah Htwe (DRD)
