195 PDFs rejoin society
A total of 195 individuals, including
177 men and 18 women — who accepted the peace processes of the State and the
Tatmadaw, reentered the legal fold yesterday with firearms and ammunition.
They were warmly welcomed at Yan Aung Myin
Hall of the Central Command Headquarters, with Mandalay Region Chief Minister
U Myo Aung, Commander Brig-Gen Aung Htay, other relevant officials and parents
of the returnees in attendance.
The returnees handed over seven rifles,
one homemade gun, 12 magazines, 459 rounds of various ammunition, 25 grenades
and one walkie-talkie.
The chief minister presented cash
rewards totaling K11.7 million for the weapons and equipment, while 184
persons who returned without weapons received K100,000 each. The returnees
signed pledges and were subsequently handed over to their parents and
guardians.
There are still individuals who wish to
return to the legal fold. Those who intend to do so are encouraged to promptly
contact and report to the nearest Tatmadaw bases or police stations. They will
be welcomed and accepted, provided with the necessary assistance and support,
