4 teams book Futsal Cup semifinal spots
THE final group-stage matches of the International Futsal Cup 2026 were held on 8 September at the MFF Futsal Stadium in Thuwunna, Yangon, with Myanmar clubs MIU, YRG and YCDC Dream Team and Indonesia’s Black Steel Papua advancing to the semifinals.
On the final group-stage day, Black Steel Papua defeated YCDC Dream Team 6-2 in Group A, while TG United beat Cambodia’s Lucky 2-1. In Group B, YRG defeated Thailand’s Black Pearl Academy 4-3, while MIU edged fellow Myanmar club M2K 3-2.
Lucky needed only a draw in its final match to advance but suffered a defeat, allowing YCDC Dream Team to secure an unexpected semi-final place. Black Steel Papua finished top of Group A with nine points, while YCDC Dream Team secured second place on goal difference after the three teams below the leaders each finished with three points.
In Group B, MIU finished top with nine points, followed by YRG with six. Black Pearl Academy and M2K, with three and no points respectively, were eliminated.
The semi-finals will be played on 10 September, with Black Steel Papua facing YRG and MIU taking on fellow Myanmar club YCDC Dream Team. — Shine Htet Zaw/KZL
