Inter-Ministry Sepak Takraw semifinals set for today

THE knockout and quarterfinal matches in the men’s four-player team event at the 2026 Inter-Ministry Sepak Takraw Championship were held at Gymnasi­um A of Wunna Theikdhi Sports Complex in Nay Pyi Taw on 8 September.

In the knockout stage, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation defeated the Ministry of Transport 2-0, while the Ministry of Religious Affairs beat the Central Bank of Myan­mar 2-1. The Ministry of Construction defeated the Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism 2-0, while the Ministry of Electricity and Energy beat the Ministry of Fi­nance and Revenue 2-1. The Ministry of Coop­eratives and Rural De­velopment defeated the Ministry of Digital Devel­opment and Communica­tions 2-0, the Ministry of Border Affairs beat the Ministry of Social Wel­fare, Relief and Reset­tlement 2-0, the Ministry of Home Affairs defeated the Ministry of Sports 2-1, and the Ministry of De­fence beat the Ministry of Education 2-0.

In the quarterfinals, the Ministry of Religious Affairs defeated the Min­istry of Agriculture, Live­stock and Irrigation 2-0, the Ministry of Construc­tion beat the Ministry of Electricity and Energy 2-0, the Ministry of Bor­der Affairs defeated the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development 2-0, and the Ministry of Home Affairs beat the Ministry of Defence 2-0.

The semifinals will be held from 10 am on 9 September, with the Ministry of Religious Af­fairs facing the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Border Affairs taking on the Ministry of Home Affairs. The third-place play-off and final will follow. Admission is free, with the final and prize-giving ceremony scheduled to begin at 3 pm and broadcast live on MRTV-4 HD, MRTV Sports Channel and MRTV Entertainment. — MNA/KZL
