50 linked to online scam and gambling activities arrested in Namhsan

AUTHORITIES arrest­ed 50 people including nine Chinese men, one Chinese woman, 26 My­anmar men and 14 My­anmar women involved in online scam and gam­bling activities in Namh­san township, Shan State (South), yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off from residents, the of­ficials searched about 1,500 metres from the northeast of Gonyaung village in Namhsan town­ship, and also seized 20 Starlink sets, 25 laptops, 20 all-in-one computers, 217 mobile phones, nine system units, two print­ers, a refrigerator, a freezer, 50 chairs, a large generator, 15 tables and four fans, along with sev­eral buildings used as a workshop, workers’ quar­ters, residential buildings and a kitchen.

The offenders will face action under the existing law after prop­er investigation, and the seized materials will be managed as per proce­dures. — MNA/KTZH
