7 undocumented foreigners detained in Myanmar





MYANMAR detained three Filipinos, two Sri Lankans, one Chinese national and one Indian, totalling seven individu­als, involved in telecom fraud and other criminal activities in Kayin State yesterday.


Myanmar authorities facilitated the smooth repatriation of these de­tainees to their respective countries with the rele­vant officials.


Of the remaining 1,344 individuals to be de­ported, 640 were charged under Section 3 (1)/13(1) of the Myanmar Immigra­tion (Emergency) Provi­sions Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and 704 are currently detained while awaiting repatria­tion.


The government is strictly cracking down on online scams and online gambling by cooperat­ing with other countries, including neighbouring countries. — MNA/KTZH
