Myanmar attends 16th International Exhibition of Safety and Security Equipment and Technologies in Russia



A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win attended the 16th Interna­tional Exhibition of Safe­ty and Security Equip­ment and Technologies, held in Kazan, Russian Federation, from 3 to 5 September.

 

During the visit, the Union minister held a bilateral meeting with Mr Alexander Kurenkov, Minister of of Civil De­fence, Emergencies and Elimination of Conse­quences of Natural Dis­asters (EMERCOM) of the Russian Federation, at the Bilateral Meeting Room of the Kazan Expo Building, where the exhi­bition was held.

 

They discussed pub­lic safety and natural dis­aster-related issues cur­rently being addressed in the Russian Federation, capacity-building and training programmes for personnel at different levels who are involved in responding to natural and man-made disasters, the process of signing a Memorandum of Under­standing (MoU) between the two ministries on dis­aster management and possible assistance and support for enhancing capacity in various areas of disaster management.

 

The exhibition was organized under the leadership of the Min­istry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elim­ination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of the Russian Federation. Companies engaged in the manufacture, dis­tribution and sale of firefighting and securi­ty vehicles, machinery and related equipment, as well as training insti­tutions, participated in the exhibition and show­cased their products and services.

 

During the exhibi­tion, the Union minister observed equipment and machinery used in natu­ral disaster response and other security-related disaster management activities. He also visit­ed training schools and universities that provide capacity-building pro­grammes for personnel involved in disaster man­agement operations and observed their training activities.

 

He inspected the completion of a training school in Kazan for search and rescue and emergen­cy management, plans for its opening and training programmes, and also observed the operations of the flood search and rescue unit in Kazan.

 

He attended and delivered remarks at a briefing on disaster and security-related activi­ties given by Mr Alexan­der Kurenkov, Minister of EMERCOM of the Rus­sian Federation, and the Mayor of Kazan. He also attended a welcome din­ner hosted in conjunction with the programme. — MNA/KTZH
