Preliminary results of 9th State Duma election announced

A Myanmar delegation led by Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, currently in Russia as international election ob­servers, attended the cer­emonies for the announce­ment of the preliminary results of the election for the ninth State Duma and to review the election by in­ternational observers, UEC representatives and parlia­mentarians yesterday.

Russian Central Elec­tion Commission Chair­person Mrs Ella Pamfilo­va briefed them on election process.

The observers and par­ticipants coordinated the discussion.

During the election period, a drone attack oc­curred, killing two people and injuring 20 others, in­cluding Mrs Sanaikhina, the chairperson of Polling Station No 1283. Moreover, the cyberattacks aimed at disrupting voting machines occurred on the first day of voting, while election com­mission officials and their family members received threatening messages.

A total of 12 political parties contested the 9^th State Duma election. Unit­ed Russia secured the larg­est vote with 57.79 per cent, followed by the Communist Party with 13.73 per cent.

Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn also gave an interview to Rus­sia 1 television channel. – MNA/KTZH
