School worth 300,000 USD built in northern Afghan city

Local authorities constructed a school building worth 300,000 U.S. dollars in Kunduz city, the provincial capital of Kunduz province in northern Afghanistan, the official Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) reported Friday.

The 12-room building would accommodate hundreds of children to receive education at the primary school, the official media outlet said.

Welcoming the step as a significant initiative toward promoting education, local residents called on their government to build more schools in the province.

Afghan authorities have earlier reconstructed numerous damaged schools and constructed new buildings to move students from makeshift tent schools to suitable educational facilities across the post-war country.
