YU conducts earthquake preparedness and response rehearsal
ON 2 September, the University of
Yangon held its first rehearsal for earthquake preparedness and response,
organized by the Myanmar Earthquake Committee (MEC) in collaboration with the Federation
of Myanmar Engineering Societies (Fed MES) and the University itself.
During the event, students and staff received
training on safe evacuation procedures during emergencies, as well as how to
perform first aid and conduct timely rescue operations.
Following the rehearsal, university
officials, MEC representatives, and students participated in a review session
to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the exercise they had just
completed.
Additionally, a discussion took place,
focusing on the necessary preparations and responses needed to ensure
effectiveness in future emergencies, such as earthquakes. — MT/ZS
