YU Hosts China-Myanmar Youth Exchange, Media Tea Party

THE China-Myanmar Youth Exchange Event and the Third Quarter 2026 China-Myanmar Me­dia Tea Party took place at the Centre for Research and Innovation of Yangon University yesterday.

An introductory vid­eo about China was first screened. This was fol­lowed by welcome remarks delivered by Dr Zheng Zhihong, Minister Coun­sellor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Myanmar, Dr Thaung Htike, Rector of the University of Yangon, MP U Aye Chan, a mem­ber of the International Relations Committee of the Pyithu Hluttaw and Dr Naing Swe Oo, Senior Advisory Board Member of Myanmar Institute of Strategic and Inter­national Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The attendees then continued the discussion regarding the role of the media and young people in promoting regional stability, peace and mu­tual development, and new ideas for continuing to build a community in which countries stand together through thick and thin.

The event served as a platform for exchang­ing views and ideas aimed at further deep­ening and strengthening constructive cooperation between Myanmar and China, enhancing friend­ship among the younger generations of the two countries, and promot­ing people-to-people contact. Discussions also focused on future exchanges and cooper­ation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, culture and me­dia.

The event also pro­vided an opportunity for university students to gain a better under­standing of China’s cul­ture and development, while promoting greater cooperation among stu­dents and young people and between the media sectors of Myanmar and China. — Thitsa (MNA)/ KTZH
