Shwedagon Pagoda holds Buddhist precepts ceremony
THE Buddhist precepts ceremony for 1388
ME Lent was held at the Ancient Buddha Images Hall on the platform of Shwedagon
Pagoda at 9:30 am on 4 October, organized by the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of
Trustees.
Members of the Board of Trustees, office
staff, members of religious associations, donors and yogis attended the ceremony
and received the Nine Precepts from State Ovadacariya and Ovadacariya of the
Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees Tipitaka Ovadacariya Aggamaha Pandita
Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Aggamaha Ganthavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta
Naradabhivamsa.
Afterwards, members of the Board of
Trustees, staff, Buddhist associations and donors respectfully offered Waso
robes to the venerable Ovadacariya Sayadaw and the invited Sangha with
devotion.
The congregation listened to the
venerable Sayadaw’s sermon and shared the merits of the donations.
Following the ceremony, members of the
Pagoda Board of Trustees offered meals to the venerable Ovadacariya Sayadaw and
members of the Sangha and hosted the yogis who observed the Sabbath precepts
