Myanmar joins 9th Cairo Water Week, explores bilateral cooperation
UNION Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, U Min Naung, attended the 9th Cairo Water Week held in Cairo from 25 to 29 October 2026, accompanied by Myanmar Ambassador to Arab Republic of Egypt U Kyaw Tin Shein.
During the visit, the Union minister joined the ministerial-level discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, followed by bilateral meetings with Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr Hani Sewilam. The talks centred on expanding technical exchange and cooperation in agriculture and irrigation management.
Additionally, the Union Minister-led delegation engaged with officials from Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and toured several key facilities, including a cotton research institute, veterinary vaccine production laboratories, dairy farms, and Nile-fed irrigation and water research projects. — MNA/ST
