With the aim of promoting fishery industry and preventing from scarcity of fish resources, the Fisheries Department is undertaking to release fingerlings into creeks and rivers across the Township.
On 23 November morning, Mon State Fisheries Department held a ceremony to release fingerlings into Thanlwin River, according to an official from the Township Fisheries Department.
Chief Minister of Mon State Government U Zaw Lin Tun, Mon state Government ministers, the State Chief Justice, the State Attorney-General, departmental officials, chairman of the Township Hatchery Plantation Supervision Committee and members and staff from the Township Fisheries Department attended the event and jointly released a total of 150000 fingerlings including fingerling of 140000 Ngamyitchin and fingerling of 10000 Ngakhunma into the river.—Si Thu (IPRD)
