Mongolia issues severe weather warning

Mongolia's National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring on Wednesday issued a warning of extreme cold as well as dust and snow storms.

Overnight temperatures are expected to reach minus 40-45 degrees Celsius across large parts of Mongolia from Thursday until the beginning of next week, the agency said in a statement.

In addition, strong snow and dust storms are expected to hit southern Gobi Desert areas and eastern steppe parts of the country in the coming days, it said, urging the public to take extra precautions against possible disasters.
