Union Minister U Min Naung of the
Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation oversaw the operations of
the Department of Laboratories on Microscopic Analysis and the Development and
Research Division under the Department of Fisheries in Shukhinthar, Thakayta
Township, Yangon Region, yesterday morning.
During the inspection, officials
presented the process of obtaining the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 17025
certificate for the seventh time, recommendations of the General Administration
of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC), microbiological
laboratories and laboratory work, the central laboratory and regional
laboratory activities in regions and states, the monthly inspection process of
fish and shrimp processing plants in Yangon, and future business plans.
The Union Minister stressed that
systematic supervision must be made over fishery products meeting standards and
norms of customer countries since it is an important sector in exporting
Myanmar’s products and to monitor the cleanliness of production stages,
including raw materials, chemical residues, and disease-causing materials, in
accordance with the national-level chemical residue control measures for
Myanmar livestock and fishery products. As laboratory professionals, it is
necessary to have more awareness of internationally recognized methods,
increase the study of laboratory technologies, and make efforts to produce new
generations of professionals, he added.
Afterwards, the Union Minister
inspected the stage-by-stage operations from crocodile eggs and hatchlings to
adult crocodiles at the Thakayta Crocodile Farm, crocodile breeding operations
with earthen tanks and concrete tanks, the activities of the Division of Water
Quality Inspection and Freshwater Research under the Department of Fisheries,
