MEVM training in Homalin aims to ensure smooth electoral process




THE opening ceremony for the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) instructor training course and practical voting was held yesterday morning at the Homalin Dis­trict Office meeting hall in Homalin Township, attended by Sagaing Region Chief Minis­ter U Myat Kyaw, officials from the Union Election Commission Office, the Minister for Ethnic Affairs of the region, depart­mental officials, and trainees.


On the occasion, the Chief Minister of the Region high­lighted the advantages of us­ing the MEVM; Union Elec­tion Commission member U Myint Thein outlined the plan for holding a multiparty demo­cratic general election; and the Assistant Director of the UEC demonstrated how to use the MEVM.


Then, the Chief Minis­ter and the attendees tested the voting process using the MEVM.


Afterwards, the Chief Min­ister of the Region delivered a speech at a ceremony where financial assistance, along with rice and oil, was provided to 585 temporarily displaced people in the Homalin District, includ­ing a monthly financial aid of K2,925,000.


The Regional Minister for Ethnic Affairs and officials dis­tributed rice, cooking oil, and household utensils supplied by the Disaster Management Department to the temporarily displaced people.

The Chief Minister then met with the medical superin­tendent and staff at Homalin People’s Hospital, presented honorariums and food items to the staff, and provided nu­tritious food to residents un­dergoing medical treatment. — Region IPRD/TH
