Injured baby elephant Kyaw Pearl improves recovery
ONE of baby elephants at Wingabaw
elephant camp has now improved in health.
At the camp, a female elephant named
Pearl Sanda gave birth to twins and Kyaw Pearl, a male elephant is now unable
to move his back part after being accidentally hit by his mother’s leg, causing
a spinal cord injury.
No getting sick, the little elephant has
now restored good health, despite having regular breastfeeding, he has also
been given formula milk as the intake of food is low. He has been kept warm in
the rainy season in order to avoid getting sick. Now his bruises have recovered
but it will need to take time to cure his injury on the spinal cord.
The elephant is being treated in
consultation with local veteran veterinarians, and the Myanma Timber Enterprise
is arranging for the case report to consult with foreign elephant doctors. —
